SparkExperiment Support

Help and support for SparkExperiment, including Apple Health access, experiments, journaling, data export and import.

Getting Started

  • Create an experiment around something you want to track. Give it a clear name and record what you plan to observe.
  • Use experiment phases to organize different periods of observation. Compare records and changes over time; differences alone do not establish cause and effect.
  • Use Demo Data to explore the app with sample records. Demo records are examples, not your own observations.

Logging

  • Intake: record what you consume and the details you want to track.
  • Activity: record activities and routines.
  • Observation: record what you notice and how you feel.
  • Treatment: record treatments you are tracking. These entries are records, not treatment recommendations.

Apple Health

  • Grant access when SparkExperiment requests Apple Health permission. You choose which available data types the app may read, and can change permissions through iOS.
  • Health Summary presents health information and summaries for review. Raw Data lets you review the underlying available records.
  • If data is missing, check that it exists in Apple Health, that the relevant data type is permitted, and that you are viewing the appropriate date range. Check whether the source device or app has supplied its records.
  • If access is denied, the app cannot display the affected Health data. You can continue recording your own entries and change permissions later through iOS.
  • SparkExperiment does not modify raw Apple Health records.

Data Management

  • Export Data: explicitly create an export and choose its destination using iOS. Keep sensitive files somewhere you trust.
  • Import Data: select a SparkExperiment export file to restore or merge local records. Read the confirmation before continuing.
  • Add to Existing Data merges imported data with current local data.
  • Replace Existing Data replaces existing data as described in the import confirmation. Export a backup first if you need to retain current records.
  • Clear and Import clears current local app data before importing the selected file. Keep a backup before using this option.
  • Delete All Data: open More → Data Management → Danger Zone → Delete All Data. This deletes SparkExperiment-managed local user data, not Apple Health records.

Privacy & Storage

SparkExperiment uses local-first storage. No SparkExperiment account is required, and personal app data is stored locally. Export happens only when you explicitly initiate it.

Troubleshooting

  • Apple Health data not appearing: review permissions, source records, and the date range as described above.
  • Changing app language: review the language options available for SparkExperiment in iOS Settings. The language selector on this website changes only these information pages.
  • Export/import problems: check available device storage and access to the selected file or destination. Use a SparkExperiment export file and retain the original backup if an import fails.
  • Restoring from exported data: choose Import Data, select your saved export, and choose whether to add or replace data. Review the confirmation carefully. Without a saved export, this restore method is unavailable; SparkExperiment does not currently offer cloud sync.

Contact Support

For troubleshooting, send only non-sensitive details such as app version, build number, iOS version, and device model. Please do not send personal health data or export files.
